About Events

Executive Leadership Events is an on-going educational initiative developed and produced by two of the of the region's top consulting firms: Chernoff Diamond & Co., LLC and Portnoy, Messinger, Pearl & Associates, Inc.

The Executive Leadership Events are designed to provide business owners, C-level and executive managers with the mission critical thinking they need to address the challenges their businesses face. From safe, innovative approaches to retirement plans, changes in the Affordable Care Act, corporate risk and liability to common wage and hour mistakes, methods to reduce employee turnover, and strategic job descriptions. The ELE programs will provide the vision leaders need to manage in 2015 and beyond.

All events feature complimentary breakfast and take place at Chernoff Diamond's Conference Center located at 725 RXR Plaza, East Tower, 7th Floor, Uniondale, NY 11556.

    Employment mistakes in the workplace can lead to costly litigation which takes valuable time and resources away from business operations.     Beth Fagin received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations in 1985 from Cornell University, and a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1988. Since her admission to the New York bar in 1989, Ms. Fagin has practiced exclusively in the field of labor and employment law. In addition to litigating employment and related matters in the state and federal courts, Ms. Fagin regularly provides advice and counsel to human resources and management professionals on all types of workplace law issues, including discrimination, fair employment practice matters, and wage and hour compliance. Ms. Fagin also represents employers in administrative proceedings brought before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, and the National Labor Relations Board, among others.

In this session we will reveal how a Direct Recognition VIP is designed to optimize benefits and minimize risk. They are a versatile management tool and a guide to hiring, defining a job, and identifying job functions and requirements. They also indicate the knowledge, abilities, qualifications, and skills required to perform a job successfully. Job descriptions provide critical guidance for recruitment, training, compensation, and for completing performance evaluations.

    Ralph A. Sepe is a Partner in the Health & Benefits division at Chernoff Diamond & Co., LLC, where he leads strategic teams that consult and advise clients on their employee health benefit programs. He has extensive knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions and its implications for health plan sponsors. Mr. Sepe negotiates with carriers and designs benefits programs that maximize available resources, control costs and support long term recruitment and retention goals. Under the Affordable Care Act he and his team provide impact analysis, exploring viable benefit plan design alternatives, evaluating funding arrangements based on the risk characteristics of each group, insurance carrier and vendor selection including contract negotiation for health, retiree health, dental and disability plans; compliance support, employee benefit plan administration and performance monitoring.

The Chernoff Diamond Conference Center is located in Chernoff Diamond's corporate offices at RXR Plaza which is located on Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale, NY right across the street from the Nassau Coliseum in central Nassau County. RXR Plaza is easily accessible from the Meadowbrook Parkway. Take Exit M5 (Hempstead Turnpike East/ Rte. 24 East). Make a right at the first light onto Merrick Avenue. Make a right at second light onto Glenn Curtiss Boulevard. Make a right at the light into the RXR Plaza entrance. At the front of the building, make a left and follow to the visitor parking lot on the left. When you enter the building atrium take the escalator up and head right -- towards the East Tower - be sure to take the "South" Elevator bank to the 7th floor to access the Chernoff Diamond Conference Center.
